Prof Abdallah Badou represented TACII at the event, building directly on the introduction TACII had given to the CIVIS Health community at an online webinar earlier in June.
CIVIS Days has grown into the Alliance's flagship annual gathering with 2026 theme: "CIVIS is News: Seven Years of Shared Impact". Sessions ran across three days at the University of Bucharest, covering everything from joint degree programmes to research collaboration.
Following the CIVIS Health community webinar, in which Professors Abdallah Badou, Faith Osier, and Barbara Seliger first presented TACII's founding rationale, the in-person setting of CIVIS Days allowed direct, sustained conversation. Several researchers who met Prof Badou in Bucharest expressed interest in joining the initiative. Drawn to TACII's distinctive integration of cancer, immunology and infection, TIME, microbiome, and artificial intelligence as a single, connected research question, and by the team members assembled across all five regions in Africa.
TACII's engagement with CIVIS builds on the initiative's founding scientific rationale, first presented to the CIVIS Health community in June 2026.
